About Us
The Tenute Butticè farm is a small and young family-run business, born from the conversion of the family land destined for vineyards into the cultivation of olive trees and pistachios. The cultivation techniques of the land remain faithful to the ancient ones, handed down from generation to generation, distinguishing themselves from these only by the introduction of mechanical means to the present day, the company also boasts a cultivation of olive trees and pistachios that follows and reflects the criteria organic farming. The land of the company is medium clayey soils, located near the Tre Fontane and San Giorgio feuds in the Agrigento area, at an altitude of 300-400 meters above sea level. The olive cultivars are Nocellara, Biancolilla, Coratina and Cerasuola.
As for the cultivation of pistachios, the prevalent cultivar is the White Napoletana and the soils fall within the Pistachio di Raffadali PDO area. Pistachios are grown on medium-loose soils and therefore suitable. The climate of the island favors the cultivation of pistachio, its harvest takes place starting from the last weeks of August, we proceed subsequently to the hulling during which the fruit is deprived of the husk, after a period of natural drying in the sun (3-5 days), shelling is carried out, thus obtaining the actual fruit ready for consumption or processing.
